@Axcel TSX None of those examples are abbreviations. My issue is using a pronunciation that betrays the actual word. And I say the guy who coined the abbreviation is wrong.

Okay then how about JPEG? Since JPEG means "Joint Photographic Experts Group" then shouldn't it be said as "JPhEG" or "JFEG" instead of "JPEG"?

Or how about laser? why do we say it as "Lazer" instead of "Laser" pronouncing the S as Z instead?

@Axcel TSX "Laser" is not pronounced with a 'z'. It's just people putting too much emphasis on the 's' sound. Similar to how people put too much emphasis on the 'o' in "lose"...

....and now we got too many people thinking "lose" is spelled L-O-O-S-E.
